Ozzfest might be crawling out of the grave.
The official Ozzfest social media accounts have posted a teaser suggesting the iconic metal festival could return in 2027, sparking a fresh wave of speculation among fans who’ve been starving for a proper travelling heavy festival in the US for years.
The post itself is simple but loud, a teaser image reading ‘Ozzfest could return 2027?’, it’s been almost two decades since the last real iteration of Ozzfest, but chatter about its return has been steadily building, especially with renewed attention on all things Ozzy following Osbourne’s passing last July, the timing feels intentional and not just about nostalgia, but legacy.
It’s not coming out of nowhere
Last week, a Billboard report stated Sharon Osbourne had been speaking with Live Nation about potentially bringing Ozzfest back, she also suggested it was something Ozzy cared deeply about and not just as a headline grabbing brand, but as a platform for new bands to get a shot in front of massive crowds.
“I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently. It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
That line about “summer camp for kids” nails what Ozzfest always felt like, without being polished or corporate, just a roaming celebration of heavy music where newer acts could share stages with established acts.
Right now, there’s still no official confirmation of a full revival, but the festival accounts are also prodding fans to share their favourite Ozzfest moments, which is usually the first move before something bigger drops.
If this really is the start of a 2027 resurrection, I for one better start saving.
