Parkway Drive Are Back In The Studio

Share

It looks like Parkway Drive are officially back in the studio again.

Over the weekend, Byron Bay metal giants Parkway Drive quietly shared a new studio photo across social media, strongly hinting that fresh material is currently in the works, the image shows frontman Winston McCall tracking vocals inside a Los Angeles recording studio, while comments from visual collaborator Third Eye Visuals only added more fuel to the speculation.

For fans, it’s the clearest sign yet that Parkway Drive are preparing the long awaited follow up to 2022’s Darker Still.

Staying busy

The band have remained busy since releasing that record, balancing huge international touring commitments with major festival appearances, while also navigating one of the most transformative periods in their career.

Darker Still arrived after Parkway publicly addressed burnout and internal strain in 2022, temporarily stepping back from touring before returning stronger with singles like Glitch (below), The Greatest Fear and the album’s cinematic title track.

Since then, Parkway have only grown larger, the Aussie heavyweights are now locked in for a massive run of upcoming performances, including appearances aboard Australia’s new Hellbound Cruise in both 2026 and 2027.

The inaugural Hellbound Cruise sold out almost instantly after announcing a stacked lineup featuring Parkway Drive, Polaris, Northlane, Make Them Suffer and more, transforming the Carnival Splendor into a floating heavy music festival departing Sydney Harbour.

Rather than slowing down, Hellbound doubled down for 2027, once again bringing Parkway Drive back as headliners alongside The Amity Affliction, Thy Art Is Murder, Alpha Wolf and I Killed The Prom Queen.

Beyond Australia, Parkway also appeared at Welcome To Rockville in Florida, continuing the band’s evolution into one of the most globally recognised heavy acts to ever emerge from Australia.

At this stage, there’s still no official confirmation around a new album, release date or single, but with Winston seemingly back behind the mic in LA, the signs are becoming impossible to ignore, and after the scale and experimentation of Darker Still, it’ll be fascinating to see where Parkway Drive head next.
