Melbourne, Australia – November 16th, 2024 — Marvel Stadium was rocked to its core as Pearl Jam delivered one of their most memorable performances to date during the first of two Melbourne shows on their 2024 Australian tour.
Fans were already riding high on the band’s electric setlist when the night took a rebellious turn—despite the house lights coming on, the Seattle icons said f**k it and powered through a whopping eight-song encore, leaving the crowd in awe.
A Night to Remember at Marvel Stadium
The show kicked off with Why Go, igniting the packed stadium with raw energy before flowing seamlessly into the fan-favourite Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. From classics like Corduroy and Even Flow to newer tracks React, Respond and Dark Matter, Pearl Jam’s dynamic set proved they’re as versatile and commanding as ever.
The inclusion of the Eruption cover—a nod to Van Halen—had the crowd buzzing, while Wreckage and Running highlighted the band’s creative evolution. But nothing could prepare the audience for the jaw-dropping encore that followed.
The Eight-Song Encore That Defied the Lights
As the band wrapped their main set with Porch, fans braced themselves for an epic encore. But Pearl Jam delivered more than anyone expected. Opening the encore with the poignant Just Breathe and the introspective Inside Job, the band shifted gears into full-throttle rock mode with Do the Evolution and Better Man.
The house lights came on during Alive, but rather than call it a night, Eddie Vedder and company leaned into the moment, creating an unforgettable experience. With Rockin’ in the Free World (Neil Young cover) and the crowd-favourite Yellow Ledbetter, Pearl Jam cemented this as one of their most iconic Melbourne performances.
