Poppy, Courtney LaPlante, and Amy Lee have shared a photo on social media, and producer Jordan Fish has commented, fuelling collab rumours.
Well, folks, we’re in for some peak. Singers Poppy, Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), and Amy Lee (Evanescence) have all shared a photo on social media teasing an upcoming collab.
The post features a photo of the singers, all wearing black, standing together. The post has also been shared by Sumerian Records and Spiritbox’s label Pale Chord. While the post doesn’t include any captions, Bring Me The Horizon producer Jordan Fish commented on Poppy’s Instagram post, teasing his involvement in the collab.
Fish has recently become Poppy’s most trusted collaborator, having previously produced Poppy’s most recent album, Negative Spaces, as well as her recent BABYMETAL collaboration ‘from me to u’.
In an interview with NME, Fish described the process of working with Poppy and working on her most recent album.
“Poppy wanted to do big rock songs, which I can do, I guess,” he admitted. “She started off doing this erratic, genre-shifty music… it’s not really my expertise to constantly change tempo. In my mind, she hadn’t really put together a body of work that felt super coherent, so that was the challenge – putting her lyrics and flavour over more conventional song structures. It was a painless process [because] she’s not particularly stressed about what she’s making.
Fish has also recently worked on Lee’s collaboration with Halsey, producing the track ‘Hand That Feeds’, which appeared on the soundtrack of John Wick spin-off film Ballerina.
LaPlante also collaborated with BABYMETAL on their most recent record Metal Forth, laying heavy vocals on the track ‘My Queen’.
The potential collaboration and social media follows the infamous Grammy moment earlier this year, when LaPlante was mistaken for Poppy during a red-carpet interview. LaPlante’s response would ultimately go viral as she played along with the confusion.
“Really happy to be here again, would love to take home the Grammy for Knocked Loose and myself because I would be the first woman to win this award,” said LaPlante. “I actually haven’t looked at [how many women have been nominated previously] but I just always know that it’s time for one of us to win. I hope it’s me, or Spiritbox and Courtney.”
