Puscifer are leaning further into their warped sci-fi mythology, dropping the third issue of their ‘Tales From The Pusciverse’ comic series.
This latest chapter zooms in on a new character, The Synth Whisperer, adding another strange layer to the band’s ever expanding narrative orbit, it’s penned by Maynard James Keenan, the comic continues to blur the line between Puscifer’s music and its oddball storytelling universe, one breadcrumb at a time.

Enter The Synth Whisperer
The Synth Whisperer is portrayed by multi-instrumentalist Mat Mitchell and arrives as one of the more cryptic figures in the Pusciverse so far, introduced as a shadowy operator lurking in the depths of online music culture, he’s described as someone who can tame even the most unpredictable machines.
We’re talking high end gear with personalities of their own, Synclaviers, Fairlights, the kind of tech that either obeys you or fights back hard. In this world, The Synth Whisperer doesn’t just use them, he possesses them.
As strange signals start bleeding across the Pusciverse, his role feels less like background flavour and more like a pivot point, whether he’s there to fix the chaos or push it further off the rails is still up in the air.
Maynard’s long game
Keenan isn’t giving much away yet, but he’s clearly building something bigger (per the PRP).
‘The stories are starting to unfold. The Synth Whisperer, The Briefcase, Fanny Grey, and Bellendia Black details are dropping like bread crumbs. This is only the beginning.’
That tracks with how Puscifer operate, nothing lands all at once. It’s slow, deliberate, and just cryptic enough to keep fans digging for meaning between releases.
More than just a side project
Puscifer have always been the most unpredictable arm of Keenan’s catalogue, where Tool goes dense and A Perfect Circle leans cinematic, this project thrives in controlled weirdness, the comic series only doubles down on that identity.
It’s not just merch or filler content, it’s becoming a core part of how the band tells its story, the third issue of ‘Tales From The Pusciverse’ is available now via the band’s official site here.
