A Perfect Circle Release ‘To Whom It May Concern’ Ahead Of Australian Tour

Billy Howerdel wasn’t speaking hypothetically when he told us in August that new A Perfect Circle music was taking shape.

Six weeks later, A Perfect Circle have released ‘To Whom It May Concern’, their second new song of the year and another taste of what they’ve been working on ahead of their long-awaited Australian return this December.

The track follows ‘Starless’, which has now reached number one at Active Rock radio.

When BLUNT spoke with Howerdel last month, the guitarist was quite literally in the middle of working on new material.

“I mean, I’m working on it right now. I’m in there in the studio. I mean, I’m at my studio right now, so just taking a break to talk to you and then getting back to it. I mean, the amp is literally on idle right now.”

‘To Whom It May Concern’ was written earlier this year and recorded at Howerdel’s Lankershim Ranch Studio in Studio City. Howerdel produced the track, Matty Green handled the mix and longtime collaborator Josh Freese played drums.

“It’s exciting to finally get some new music out into the world, and seeing ‘Starless’ reach #1 at rock radio this week has made it even sweeter! The outpouring of support is so very much appreciated. ‘To Whom It May Concern’ is next up! More to come.”

The final line is particularly interesting given what Howerdel told us about the follow-up to 2018’s Eat the Elephant. There’s still no album announcement or release date, but two new songs in the space of a year gives Australian fans considerably more to work with before the band arrives.

A Perfect Circle will play their first Australian shows since 2013 this December, joined by Puscifer and Dave Hill.

Howerdel is also confident fans will be seeing the strongest version of the band yet.

“I’m really not trying to be PR guy, but like I think we’re the best version of the band we’ve had. Like I think we’re really firing all cylinders.”

The band have also announced a lengthy North American tour next year, beginning in Vancouver on April 13th. Puscifer will join A Perfect Circle through the Canadian run and Detroit, while The Cult will support the remaining US dates.
