Free Throw are heading back to Australia in January 2027, this time with Ben Quad and Sunbleached joining them for a seven date run across the country.
The tour starts at Brisbane’s The Triffid on January 23rd before moving through Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne and Adelaide, finishing at Perth’s Amplifier Bar on January 30th.
It will be Free Throw’s third Australian visit in as many years, the Nashville band supported Hot Mulligan here in 2024, then returned last year for a co-headline tour with Microwave.
This time they arrive with sixth album Moments Before The Wind behind them.
Released through Wax Bodega, the record follows 2023’s Lessons That We Swear To Keep and finds vocalist Cory Castro writing through loss, upheaval and the impending arrival of his first child.
Musically, Free Throw are still working inside the emo-punk world that built their following, but Moments Before The Wind pushes further into heavier alternative rock without losing the scrappy immediacy of their earlier material.
The bigger first, though, belongs to Ben Quad.
The Oklahoma City band will play Australia for the first time on the run, bringing material from last years album Wisher with them. Produced by Jon Markson, whose credits include Drug Church and The Story So Far, the record stretches Ben Quad’s emo foundations through screamo, math rock and flashes of glitchier production.
Brisbane’s Sunbleached round out the bill following the September release of their debut album Stop Destroying The Things You Love.
Produced by Fletcher Matthews, the record gives the local band a full-length home for the mix of emo, alt-rock and heavier guitar music they have been building toward over the past few years.
Sunbleached will appear at every show except Perth.
For Free Throw, the January run continues a relationship with Australian audiences that has accelerated quickly since their first visit in 2024. For Ben Quad, it is the beginning of one.
