Riot Games Has Released A New Cinematic For Courtney LaPlante’s 2KXO Track ‘Ties That Bind’

Riot Games has shared a new cinematic for their upcoming game 2KXO, featuring Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante’s solo track ‘Ties That Bind’.

Riot Games has just shared a new cinematic for their upcoming two-on-two fighting game, 2KXO, featuring League of Legends champions. Scoring the cinematic is Spiritbox’s own Courtney LaPlante‘s solo track, ‘Ties That Bind‘, which she wrote for the upcoming game.

The video features League of Legends mascots Ekko and Ahri as they form a bond while fighting mid-lane terror Yasuo and man’s not-so-best friend Warwick.

You can watch the full video below:

According to Riot, the track was designed as a “powerful and anthemic soundscape into an epic, soaring finale for players.” The song has been released today in promotion of 2KXO‘s open beta, which is set to open tomorrow, allowing PC gamers to jump in early and provide feedback and get a feel for the game before its official release.

While a console version is expected at some point, Riot has not yet confirmed a release date outside of PC.

Courtney LaPlante’s involvement is the latest in a growing list of heavy musicians contributing to the 2XKO soundtrack. In September, instrumental progressive group Polyphia unveiled their own original track for the game, which serves as the official theme song.

It’s not uncommon for Riot to collaborate with big-name artists for its games. In 2014, the gaming company enlisted Imagine Dragons to write the song Warriors for their World Finals event. The company have also worked with Lil Nas X, Porter Robinson, Twenty One Pilots, and more.

LaPlante herself has also been busy with projects outside of Spiritbox, who also released a new album in March earlier this year. In September, LaPlante would feature on the track ‘End of You‘ alongside Poppy and Amy Lee of Evanescence.

If the song has convinced you to check out the game, you can sign up for the game’s open beta via 2KXO‘s official website and treat yourself to some button-mashing mayhem.
