Developer EA has released the first batch of artists confirmed for the upcoming Skate game, featuring Turnstile, Denzel Curry, MF DOOM and more.

Skaters, we’re so back.

EA has just revealed the first wave of artists to feature on their upcoming Skate game, which is set to include over 100 songs. The first tease already sets up something very special.

The developers confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer that the soundtrack will include “hits from emerging artists and deep cuts to help players discover new music as they skate through San Vansterdam. Each session stays fresh and high energy, and like San Vansterdam itself, the soundtrack will evolve with every season.”

Here’s who’s been confirmed for the soundtrack so far:

  • Little Simz
  • Denzel Curry
  • Turnstile
  • MF DOOM
  • Skeggs
  • Earth, Wind & Fire

As you can see, there have been no misses yet. I’m personally holding out for Pearl Jam’s ‘Even Flow’, if only so we can get more Skateboard Jesus videos.

Skate is a brand-new live-service title for the series, and it’s a long-awaited follow-up to the beloved Skate 3 from 2010. As you can expect, skating fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up for the series. With theTony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 remaster also releasing this year, you can bet skating fans are loving the resurgence of the genre.

Skate was first revealed at Xbox’s Summer Games Fest last year, featuring all-around funny man Tim Robinson. Following the trailer, the developers officially confirmed the game would be a live-service experience and would receive updates post-launch.

Skate culture’s relationship with music is a topic the devs are keen to pay homage to also. In a developer diary, audio director Matthew Smith shared, “Music has always been such an integral part of skateboarding culture,” he said.

“From getting you in the zone to bringing groups of people together for a shared experience so we’re curating a soundtrack you’ll love.”

Skate is expected to release in early access sometime later this year. The game will also be a free-to-play multiplayer experience, so anyone will be able to log on and try it out, and fall in love with its love letter to skating culture.
