Ted Nugent Says Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Snub ‘Doesn’t Affect Me At All’

Ted Nugent says he still doesn’t care about being left out of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, even after more than two decades of eligibility.

Outspoken rocker Ted Nugent addressed the long running debate during a recent appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, suggesting once again that his political views may be a factor in why he hasn’t been inducted (per Blabbermouth).

Nugent has been eligible for the honour as a solo artist since 2000, yet remains absent from the Hall’s roster despite a career stretching back more than five decades, according to the guitarist, the snub doesn’t keep him up at night:

“It doesn’t affect me at all, except I like honesty,” Nugent said during the interview. “I’m a big fan of honesty and it’s all so dishonest. But I’m having the greatest musical year of my life… So I don’t need no Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.”

Nugent Weighs In On Other Rock Hall Artists

During the conversation, Nugent also spoke about Joan Jett, defending her place in rock history while arguing other bands should be inducted first:

“I know you like shocks in life. I’m gonna shock you, because I think Joan Jett should be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame just because of her music,” he said. “But not yet, because you have to get STYX in first, you have to get NIGHT RANGER in first, you have to get TRIUMPH.”

Nugent went on to claim that the Hall of Fame’s selection process lacks transparency, arguing that numerous classic rock acts remain overlooked.

A Long Running Rock Hall Feud

The guitarist has criticised the Rock Hall for years, often pointing to the inclusion of non rock artists as proof that the institution has drifted from its original purpose, in past interviews, Nugent has questioned the presence of acts such as ABBA, Madonna and Grandmaster Flash, while arguing that more traditional rock bands deserve recognition.

At the same time, he maintains that the debate itself doesn’t impact his career or enjoyment of music.

“I am having the time of my life,” Nugent said. “Not only is 2026 gonna be the best year in my life, but it’s gonna be the worst for my enemies. And I’m not gonna put any energy into pissing off my enemies just by having a good life. It drives them batty.”

For now, Nugent says he’s focused on performing and making music rather than worrying about whether his name eventually lands in Cleveland.
