The Boys Season 5 Teaser: Things Are Looking Grim In The Savage Superhero Satire’s Final Season

Share

The Boys are going out with a bang – or at least a superhero-decimating bioweapon.

Following their panel at CCXP in Sao Paolo, Brazil, on the weekend, the team behind The Boys saw fit to unleash the first teaser trailer for the upcoming fifth and final season of the merciless superhero satire. You may recall that last season a whole lot of folks on the rightward side of politics got their collective dick in a knot when they realised that they were, indeed, the butt of each and every joke in the entire series. And as you can see from the vid below, nothing has changed.

The Boys Season 5 Teaser Trailer

What’s the plot?

Created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and adapted from the controversial comics series by Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson, The Boys takes place in a world dominated by corporate sponsored superheroes who owe their allegiance to the bottom line rather than truth and justice. Policing these amoral avatars of humanity are the titular Boys, a renegade black ops squad more than happy to stick the boot into any trespassing capes. And given we’re five seasons deep in this thing now and things are way more complicated, those are all the notes worth cliffing in our limited time here.

Season 5 finds us neck deep in it, with the US under martial law, the psychotic Superman expy Homelander running rampant, most of our heroes banged up in a concentration camp, and the few left on lam planning a resistance movement. The wild card, as ever, is the amiable but ruthless Billy Butcher, who has a lethal virus that kills supes on his hands, and very few qualms about using it.

Who’s in it?

  • Karl Urban as William “Billy” Butcher.
  • Jack Quaid as Hugh “Hughie” Campbell Jr.
  • Antony Starr as John Gillman, AKA Homelander.
  • Erin Moriarty as Annie January, AKA Starlight.
  • Jessie T. Usher as Reggie Franklin, AKA A-Train.
  • Laz Alonso as Marvin T. “Mother’s” Milk.
  • Chace Crawford as Kevin Kohler, AKA The Deep.
  • Tomer Capone as Serge, AKA Frenchie.
  • Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro, AKA The Female.

Plus Valorie Curry, Paul Reiser, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Giancarlo Esposito, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins (Merry Christmas, Supernatural fans), Seth Rogen, Daveed Diggs, and many more.

When’s it out?

The Boys season 5 hits Prime Video on April 8, 2026.

What’s the vibe?

The Boys is one of those rare adaptations that’s actually better than the source material – and I say this as someone with more love for the incredibly mean-spirited comics than anyone else I know. If they manage to stick the landing, that’ll be five perfect seasons of TV, and we don’t get that too often.
