Share

Celebrating 25 years of their fourth album, The Mark Of Cain are releasing This Is This on vinyl for the first time, complete with archival live recordings and a previously unreleased Andy Gill mix.

The Mark Of Cain have announced a deluxe 25th-anniversary edition of their 2001 album This Is This, bringing the Australian heavy-rock favourite to vinyl for the first time.

Set for release on 20 November 2026 through the band’s Black Box Records, the limited-edition double LP arrives on sky-blue vinyl, featuring previously unreleased material and recordings from a 2002 triple j Live at the Wireless session.

The expanded release also coincides with the Adelaide trio’s upcoming Front Towards Audience anniversary tour, which kicks off in Brisbane next weekend.

A Rare Andy Gill Mix And Archival Triple J Recordings

Beyond the original album, the deluxe edition includes two bonus studio tracks, including a previously unreleased extended mix of ‘Lockdown’ by the late Gang Of Four guitarist and producer Andy Gill.

Gill co-produced This Is This alongside Australian producer Phil McKellar, working with guitarist and vocalist Josie Scott during sessions in London.

As Scott recalled in comments published by Noise11, Gill played the opening guitar riff on ‘Lockdown’, making the extended mix a particularly interesting addition to the anniversary release.

The fourth side of the double LP is dedicated to five recordings from the band’s 2002 triple j Live at the Wireless session, featuring Scott, bassist Kim Scott and former Helmet drummer John Stanier.

The archival performances include ‘Familiar Territory’, ‘(R) Retaliate’, ‘Second Hander’, ‘Sleep’ and ‘One Day Late in December’.

Originally released in June 2001, This Is This marked The Mark Of Cain’s fourth studio album and their first with Stanier on drums. The record reached No. 26 on the ARIA Albums Chart, becoming the band’s first album to enter the national chart.

The Mark Of Cain Returns to the Stage

As BLUNT previously reported, The Mark Of Cain will celebrate the album’s anniversary with their Front Towards Audience tour, beginning at Brisbane’s ZED51 festival on 24 October.

The band will then visit Melbourne’s Max Watts on 13 November, Sydney’s Manning Bar on 14 November and Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on 21 November.

Alongside selections from This Is This and established favourites, the shows will feature new material ahead of the band’s planned sixth studio album.

The forthcoming record is expected to enter recording in early 2027 and will mark their first full-length release since 2012’s Songs Of The Third And Fifth.

Meanwhile, the This Is This 25th-anniversary deluxe double LP is available to pre-order through The Mark Of Cain’s official Australian merchandise store for $80.
