After years of testing, Rainbow Six Mobile officially has a confirmed launch date. Releasing on February 23, the tactical shooter will be available on iOS and Android devices.
Fans clamouring for a mobile port of Rainbow Six are about to have their prayers heard.
The long-awaited Rainbow Six Mobile finally has a release date and is expected to be released globally on February 23 for iOS and Android devices.
The mobile tactical shooter was originally announced in 2022 and has spent the last few years undergoing extensive testing and facing significant delays. But now, developers Ubisoft say it’s primed and ready for release to the wider public.
If you’ve played Rainbow Six: Siege, you’ll be familiar with what’s on offer here. You and four other teammates will pick a squad of operatives to verse an opposing team. Rainbow Six Mobile follows the same formula; however, this version of the game has been “developed exclusively” for mobile devices and will feature a trio of 5v5 multiplayer modes.
These multiplayer modes include team deathmatch and two bomb-defusing games that are similar to existing Siege modes.
Rainbow Six Mobile also features a variety of new maps inspired by Rainbow Six Siege, including Bank, Border, Clubhouse, Oregon, and Villa and features two mobile-exclusive maps: Restaurant and Summit.
Over 20 Operators will also be available on launch, including fan favourites such as Ash, Mute and Dokkaebi. Players will be able to face off against each other in Ranked matches, Quick Play, and private matches just like in Rainbow Six: Siege.
Ubisoft have already started rolling the game out early in some parts of the world and is now playable in Poland, France, Canada and parts of Latin America.
Rainbow Six: Siege just celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, it launched the massive Rainbow Six: Siege X update for the game.
During our interview with director Joshua Mills at PAX Australia in October, he said that the update was intended to “reaffirm the team’s commitment to the game” and to let the community know they plan to continue updating Rainbow Six Siege for the next 10 years.
You can pre-register for the game via the Google Play Store here.
