Twenty One Pilots have just scored their first number one spot in over a decade on the Billboard 200, marking the first time a rock album has landed the spot since Tool’s Fear Inoculum in 2019.

Twenty One Pilots has made music history with their eighth studio album, Breach, which brought an epic finale to the story the band has been telling in their music for years.

According to Luminate, Breach has bowed at number one on the Billboard 200, launching with 200,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending September 18. Not only does this mark Twenty One Pilots’ best-selling week, it’s also the biggest week for a rock album since Tool’s Fear Inoculum launched at number one with 270,000 sales back in 2019. Yep, that’s right, Twenty One Pilots are in the same calibre as Tool. Please enjoy sharing this with the most militant of Tool fans; they’ll love it.

Breach is also Twenty One Pilots’ first number one on the Billboard 200 in over a decade, since Blurryface claimed the top spot on June 6, 2015. The recently released album would also be the band’s fifth record to reach the top 10 charts. Talk about a great way to cap off the story they’ve been telling for years.

Leading up to the release of Breach, frontman Tyler Joseph revealed via Instagram that the group is considering taking an extended break from touring. He admitted that the group would complete a U.S. tour with some festival dates abroad, and then that would be it.

In the same post, the singer would write in the lead up to the album, “I’m so, so pumped for you guys to hear this record. Breach took everything I had left; but as I stare at these finished wav files, I realise how little they mean until they get to

Twenty One Pilots are currently on a North American tour, which is set to wrap up at the end of October. The band will take a lengthy break for the remainder of the year before heading over to Germany to play at Southside Festival and Hurricane Festival.
