Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral procession in Birmingham has drawn thousands to the late singer’s hometown to say farewell.
The streets of Birmingham lit up today, as thousands flocked to pay tribute to Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
The singer who helped pioneer the entire metal music genre died on July 22 at the age of 76, weeks after he played his final farewell show held at Birmingham’s Villa Park. The event saw him reunite on stage with Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for one final time.
Before passing, the late Prince of Darkness requested that his funeral not be a “mope-fest“, but instead a celebration of his life – and the city of Birmingham delivered.
His hearse made its way down Birmingham’s Broad Street, briefly stopping outside the iconic Black Sabbath bench. For the past few weeks, fans from all over the world have paid tribute to the late singer, leaving flowers and gifts to honour the artist. The funeral cortege was accompanied by family members and a live brass band, which played renditions of Osbourne’s most famous songs.
The procession was funded by the Osbourne family, offering fans one last chance to pay their respects.
