System Of A Down have paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, performing the track ‘Snowblind’ for the first time in over 20 years.
System of A Down has paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at their first show since May.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away last month at the age of 76, two weeks after performing his final show at the Back To The Beginning tribute concert in his hometown of Birmingham. The concert saw Osbourne reunite with his Black Sabbath bandmates and perform their most celebrated tracks. Back To The Beginning would raise $190m for three major charities, making it the most successful tribute concert of all time.
During System Of A Down’s show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the band took a moment to pay homage to the late Prince of Darkness. Guitarist Daron Malakian said before the performance, “The Ozzfest. We did a few Ozzfests, some of you are old enough that you were there. Some of you weren’t even born yet. I want to thank Ozzy Osbourne. We want to thank Ozzy Osbourne.”

‘Snowblind’ is a deep cut familiar to the most die-hard of System Of A Down fans. The band had previously recorded a cover of the Black Sabbath classic as part of the soundtrack for the reality TV show The Osbournes back in 2001. The band would eventually stop performing the song sometime in 2002.
Several bands have come forward to pay tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne since his passing, including Yungblud, Coldplay, The Flaming Lips, Opeth, Def Leppard, Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Gojira, Judas Priest, Ghost, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Machine Head, and more.
Rod Stewart also paid tribute to the late metal icon by performing his track ‘Forever Young’, which featured a bizarre AI video showing Osbourne in heaven alongside XXXTentacion, Tupac, Michael Jackson, and Prince. At least good intentions were there?
