Wisp stopped by the Triple J studio this week to perform a shoegaze-inspired rendition of Green Day’s ‘Last Night On Earth’ for Like A Version.

Nu-gaze pioneer Wisp has taken a break from her busy Laneway tour across Australia to visit the Triple J studio this week for a killer Like A Version performance.

The San Francisco-based artist would drop by to perform her track ‘Black Swan’, taken from her 2025 breakthrough album If Not Winter, and a reverb-fuelled cover of Green Day’s ‘Last Night On Earth’.

If you’ve been on the fence about diving into Wisp and her special take on shoegaze, this honestly is a pretty good spot to start.

“I chose this cover, it’s a very simple reason, I just think it’s a cute song,” Wisp shared in an interview with the broadcaster.

Wisp shared her love for making playlists, and shared that the Green Day track has been serving as a mood board for future music.

“I was curating a bunch of songs that I wanted to find inspiration in for the next album that I’m writing,” she said.

“And the Green Day song was one of those.”

This recent tour marks Wisp’s first tour in Australia following her rapid rise in popularity after releasing her EP Pandora, which featured the track ‘Your Face’. The song would amass a massive 150 million listens on Spotify after becoming a viral song on TikTok, soundtracking the gloomiest and yearn-filled posts on the platform.

While Laneway wraps up today, Melbourne fans will have one last shot to catch her at the Croxton Bandroom tomorrow night for a romantic show with loud, reverb-fuelled riffs.
