Nicki Minaj Reveals Why Swatting Incidents Pushed Her To Publicly Back Donald Trump

Nicki Minaj has opened up about the events she says ultimately pushed her to publicly align herself with President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

In a newly published interview with Time, the Queens born rapper detailed how repeated swatting incidents at her California home became a turning point in her political outlook and willingness to voice her support publicly.

The feature traces Minaj’s political evolution, noting that while her support for Trump had been building privately for years, she initially kept those views under wraps out of concern for how they would be received within the music industry.

“It’s been ingrained in everyone’s brain in the music business that we are supposed to be a Democratic family,” Minaj said, explaining she feared alienating fans and peers by speaking openly.

Charlie Kirk’s support

According to Minaj, the shift began after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk publicly defended her during the backlash surrounding her controversial 2021 comments about the COVID-19 vaccine (per XXL Magazine).

The support stood out to her at a moment when she felt heavily criticised from political opponents and media figures, but it was a series of swatting calls, false emergency reports that brought law enforcement to her home in 2022, 2023 and 2025, that she says changed everything.

Minaj claims her efforts to raise concerns with California Governor Gavin Newsom were ignored, while a Republican politician stepped in to assist her.

“That’s what made me say that I don’t care to keep this a secret anymore,” she explained.

Since then, Minaj has become increasingly vocal in her political alignment, lending her profile to multiple pro-Trump events and publicly embracing MAGA messaging over the past year.

The revelations mark a striking shift for one of hip-hop’s biggest global stars, underscoring how personal experiences, rather than party politics alone shaped her decision to step fully into the political spotlight.
