Slipknot Launch Cryptic Website With Countdown

Slipknot have sparked speculation with new mystery website and countdown, hinting at a 25th anniversary announcement.

Slipknot have kicked their 25th anniversary celebrations up a notch by launching a new mystery website, adding more fuel to rumours that something big is on the way.

Earlier in 2024, Slipknot teased fans with the website youcantkillme.com, which they used to announce an intimate show at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California. That gig marked the start of their 25th anniversary tour, which has seen the band revisit their early material on stages around the world.

Now, as spotted by a user on Slipknot’s subReddit, the original website redirects to a new domain: 742617000027.net. The page greets visitors with the cryptic phrase “Worse forwards than backwards” and features a text box alongside an “Enter” button, prompting fans to enter a password.

Typing “Slipknot” into the box yields a blunt message: “You have nothing to contribute so stay the fuck out.” However, one Reddit sleuth discovered the correct password, “comeplaydying.” Entering this phrase unlocks a pop-up that warns:

“Intrusion Detected.
You are being observed.
By continuing, you consent to:
Your actions being tracked
Your data being harvested
And your identity being marked for future contact.
You also agree to immediate ownership and full responsibility for the contents of the box — should it find you.”

Once inside, fans are met with blurred artwork featuring Slipknot’s original self-titled era lineup, including Chris Fehn and late member Joey Jordison. A countdown timer sits beneath the image, ticking down to July 21, while music plays in the background.

Given the website’s name, which references the opening instrumental from the band’s 1999 self-titled album, many fans believe the band could be preparing to announce a 25th anniversary edition of Slipknot. One Redditor pointed out that the phrase “come play dying” was included on the Digipak versions of Slipknot’s debut, adding weight to the speculation.

As the countdown nears its conclusion, anticipation continues to build about what Slipknot have planned. Meanwhile, the band are set to return to the stage later this month at the INKcarceration festival, the only show currently on their 2025 schedule.

With the countdown ending on July 21, fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out what the masked group have up their sleeves. Stay tuned for updates.
