Liam Gallagher Apologises for Racial Slur Tweet: “I Love You All and I Do Not Discriminate”

Liam Gallagher has just issued an apology after tweeting a racial slur just days before Oasis kick off their highly anticipated reunion tour.

On Tuesday (July 1), the Oasis frontman posted a now-deleted tweet containing a phrase widely considered a racist caricature of East Asian accents. The backlash was immediate, with fans calling him out for the offensive remark. “Liam, you can’t say that,” one follower wrote. His response was: “Why.” Another warned he was “gonna get cancelled,” to which Liam bluntly replied: “Whatever.”

Fast forward a few hours and Gallagher took to X again, this time to apologise. “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional,” he wrote. “You know I love you all and I do not discriminate. Peace and love LG x.” He echoed the sentiment on Instagram, doubling down on what appears to be damage control mode.

For context: the slur Gallagher used has been heavily associated with mocking Asian communities and was thrown around with increased frequency during the COVID era — a time when anti-Asian hate crimes surged globally.

The timing couldn’t be worse either. Tomorrow (July 4), Oasis return to the stage for their first gig in 16 years at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The Live ’25 tour has been positioned as the biggest comeback of the decade, with Liam and Noel sharing a stage for the first time since 2009.

They’ll be joined by former bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Bonehead, with Joey Waronker filling in on drums. Support comes from Richard Ashcroft and Cast.

Rehearsal audio has already been leaked, sending fans into a frenzy — but Liam confirmed those were just recordings played over the stadium speakers, not live run-throughs.

With the world watching and plenty riding on this tour, Liam’s latest foot-in-mouth moment puts unnecessary heat on an already high-stakes return. Here’s hoping the only thing going viral from now on is the music.
