Melbourne’s HEAVENSGATE have doubled down on their massive year with ‘RAIN’, a crushing and cathartic new single that explores the all-encompassing emotional pain of loss.
HEAVENSGATE have dropped their blistering new single ‘RAIN’, a ferocious yet deeply introspective track that marks another huge moment for the Melbourne metal outfit. Out now via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records, the song dives headfirst into the emotional fallout of loss and grief, and holds nothing back.
“While this is a personal story told by us, the symptoms of emotional isolation and helplessness are symptoms of grief we all share,” the band explained.
Entirely self-produced, ‘RAIN’ was crafted with intention at every level. “Every element of this track, from the lyrics to the instrumentation, was crafted to reflect a deeply personal vision, making the final result an uncompromised and authentic expression of our sound.”
You can check out the new track here and below:
‘RAIN’ is raw and frenzied, dropping you right into the centre of emotional turmoil turned sonic right from the very first beat. It’s as intense and all-encompassing as grief itself, closing out on an ambient denouement that feels reminiscent of the near-dissociative state loss can send you into. If there was ever a track that managed to sum up a human emotion and experience through its production, lyrics, and overall vibes – HEAVENSGATE has nailed it here.
Following their explosive previous single ‘OBLIVION’ (released to celebrate signing with Pure Noise Records), which kicked off 2025 with searing intensity, ‘RAIN’ offers a more emotional punch while retaining the sonic heaviness that HEAVENSGATE are quickly becoming known for.
The release comes off the back of a massive run for the group. In the past twelve months alone, they’ve played arenas across Australia with The Amity Affliction and Ice Nine Kills, supported We Came As Romans on their Australian tour, hit North America for the first time supporting Thrown, and toured nationally with Chelsea Grin and Currents.
While that’s some pretty lofty touring credits, they’re far from done. This September and October, Heavensgate will make their UK and European debut supporting We Came As Romans and Brand of Sacrifice on the Bad Luck Tour, expanding their growing global presence.
Since first emerging with their visceral debut single ‘CHEMICAL HEAVEN’ at the tail end of 2022, Heavensgate have released a string of tracks (Editor’s Note: including my personal standout, ‘GINSICK’) that fed directly into their debut EP AND ALL I LOVED, I LOVED ALONE. That EP solidified them as a serious contender in modern metal, bolstered by the production muscle of Joshua Ang (Pincer+), Erik Bickerstaffe (Loathe), and Buster Odeholm (Thrown, Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildhjarta).
Having played their first ever show in 2023 – which doubled as a sold-out headline – HEAVENSGATE have been on the up and up since they crashed onto the scene, and aren’t showing signs of slowing down any time soon.
HEAVENSGATE’s ‘RAIN’ is out now and streaming everywhere via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records. Catch them in the UK and Europe this spring on tour.
