Coldplay’s Viral “Kiss Cam” Catches Lionel Messi and His Wife in Miami Crowd

Coldplay’s now-infamous “kiss cam” has once again gone viral, this time for catching none other than Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo during the band’s Florida show over the weekend.

The moment unfolded during Coldplay’s stop at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens as part of their ongoing ‘Music Of The Spheres’ world tour. While the band played on, the camera panned to the football legend and his wife, prompting front man Chris Martin to break into an impromptu serenade. “Well Leo, my beautiful brother. You and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today to see our band play, the number one sports person of all time,” he sang.

The moment drew cheers from the crowd and quickly made its way around social media. Unlike earlier kiss cam moments from the tour, this one stayed firmly in the feel-good zone. Earlier this month, the segment caused a stir at Gillette Stadium in Boston when it zoomed in on Andy Byron, then-CEO of data company Astronomer, with his arms around a woman later identified as his colleague Kristin Cabot. Byron looked visibly panicked, ducked out of the shot, and left the internet to do the rest.

The fallout was swift. Byron resigned within days and Cabot, who served as Chief People Officer, followed soon after. Chris Martin addressed the chaos at later shows with a mix of humour and caution, jokingly urging fans to fix their makeup before the camera rolled and calling the moment “shy or scandalous, we’re still not sure”.

Since then, the kiss cam segment has become a recurring highlight of the tour, drawing equal parts anticipation and dread. It has even inspired a parody video game and worked its way into Liam Gallagher’s stage banter, with the former Oasis singer assuring his fans they would not be broadcast mid-pint.

Coldplay will continue their tour across the UK next month, where £1 from every ticket will go toward supporting grassroots music venues. A shuttle bus named after their track ‘Yellow’ will ferry fans to their Hull shows, with multiple Wembley Stadium dates to follow throughout August and early September.
