The Hives sent punters into a state of bliss at the Enmore Theatre last Wednesday, reminding Sydney why they remain one of the best live acts in music today.

The Hives took to The Enmore Theatre last Wednesday, kicking off their World Tour in our humble country. Throughout 2025, the band has been releasing singles from their new album, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, which is set for release on August 29th. All three track were played on the night, and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

From the get-go, you could already tell the crowd was keen for what was to come. After a killer set from the chaotic punk trio CLAMM, the crowd was all but raring to go for the big act.

After taking the stage, the band kicked off their hour-long set with ‘Bogus Operandi’. In mere moments, the crowd were all but ready to follow singer Pelle Almqvist wherever he would take them. The frontman commanded the audience with his unmatched stage presence, finding himself amongst the crowd, singing in fans’ faces.

Before the band launched into the song ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’, the band spotted a woman with a sign asking the band to let her play bass for them. “Jemma” joined in, playing bass from the bridge onwards of the song.

Moments later, drummer Christian Grahn paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, the same day as his passing. While playing their latest track ‘Paint A Picture’, the drummer would break out that iconic hi-hat intro from Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’. Needless to say, the crowd went wild hearing this, which was all the more impressive given the show had stretched into its hour-long mark by this stage.

The energy was not lost at all throughout the entire gig. During their final song of the night, ‘Tick Tick Tick Boom’, Almqvist requested that the audience split into an ‘area of death’, separating the crowd into two corners, before letting one last eruption of chaos unfold in the pit.

The Hives brought nothing but a contagious energy to the performance, and you could feel it beaming off every punter in the crowd. The Swedish group wrapped their Aussie tour with their show at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. However, with a new album on the way, you can bet they’ll be back again, hopefully sooner than later.
