Dayseeker have shared the new single ‘Shapeshift’ from their upcoming album Creature In The Black Night, releasing October 24th via Spinefarm.
Dayseeker have just dropped their latest single ‘Shapeshift’ along with a visualiser from their next album, Creature In The Black of Night, due October 24th via Spinefarm. This will be the band’s long-awaited follow-up to their acclaimed 2022 LP, Dark Sun.
Produced by Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore), Creature In The Black of Night is embracing a horror-film influence and ‘Shapeshift’ continues showing off that theme with its ‘Grim Reaper’ character aura farming throughout.

On the new single, Rodriguez shared, “This song is about the anxiety I live with on a daily basis,” says the singer. “[Shapeshift is] an open letter to myself about how it shifts and moulds me into a different version of me.”
The band released their first single from the album ‘Pale Moonlight’ in April, giving us our first glimpse into the themes of the new record and hinting at a darker, sinister sound. “This album is about the personal issues I’ve dealt with, trying to navigate life as our band becomes a little more successful,” shared Rodriguez. “I’m alive and functioning as a human, but maybe not experiencing and feeling things as much as I should.”
In that same interview, Rodriguez would share that horror movies played a big part in inspiring the new album. “There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on,” Rodriguez admitted. “It wasn’t planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it.”
While Dayskeer haven’t announced an Australian tour just yet, the band will be appearing at Good Things 2025 later this year, joining Tool, Weezer, Garbage, and more. So, we won’t have to wait long to hear the new stuff live.
