Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Mode Revealed: Deadly Rings, Destruction, and 100-Player Squads

EA has revealed the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode with an instant-kill ring, destructible maps, and 100-player squad fights – and closed testing starts this week.

With just under a month until release, Battlefield 6 has officially detailed its new battle royale mode. EA confirmed the addition through the latest Battlefield Labs community update, giving fans their first real glimpse at how the franchise plans to approach the genre.

EA and Battlefield Studios previously teased the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode during the multiplayer reveal in late July, showcasing a chaotic teaser video at the end of all the major announcements.

You can check out that video, which we captured during the live event on-ground in Los Angeles, below:

The new mode draws on Battlefield’s traditional focus on squadplay, vehicles, and large-scale destruction, while also pushing the intensity higher with what the developers are calling “the deadliest ring” in a battle royale. Unlike in Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone, players caught in Battlefield 6’s shrinking ring will be eliminated instantly. There’s no dipping in and out for cover or surviving with medkits – once it touches you, the match is over.

“With urgent warnings as the fire approaches, soldiers will be pushed into more intense firefights as the game space continues to shrink,” the community update reads. “There’s no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it – if you get caught in it, you are done.”

Destruction will also be central, with environments designed to collapse, shift, and open up tactical opportunities mid-match. According to the update, “destruction will be everywhere in this mode,” giving players freedom to carve their own paths or take out enemy cover.

The map itself in Battlefield 6‘s battle Royale mode is described as massive, with distinct points of interest offering different tactical layouts. To navigate it, squads will find basic transport scattered around the arena, along with armored vehicles that can be unlocked for heavier firepower. Matches will feature 100 players in total, broken into 25 squads of four. EA clarified that this format is “for this test,”leaving room for adjustments before release.

Classes will be locked once a match begins, but players can level up during the game to unlock traits that give their squad an edge, from faster armour application to better vehicle counters. Missions will also be available, adding optional objectives with high-value rewards like weapon caches, vehicle keys, or redeploy units. These objectives will force teams to decide whether the payoff is worth drawing attention from nearby squads.

Battlefield 6 launches October 10, 2025. While the mode is still in testing, the publisher says it’s committed to delivering a “Battle Royale done the Battlefield way.” Fans won’t have to wait long to find out if it lives up to the promise.
