After months of speculation, Knotfest Australia has confirmed it will be returning – but not until 2027.
Knotfest Australia is returning, with the festival confirming today that it would be back on Aussie shores in 2027 after taking a “short break” next year.
The confirmation comes after months of speculation over whether the music festival would run in 2026, given the near-radio silence from the festival since the 2025 leg wrapped up earlier this year and potential date clashes with Park Waves.
In the statement, the festival, Destroy All Lines and TEG said taking a year off would allow for them to “come back in 2027 with the best Knotfest Australia yet.”
Here’s their full statement:
“After three incredible years – made unforgettable by the fans and the artists that shared the stage across each lineup – we’ll be taking a short break in 2026. This time off will allow us to come back in 2027 with the best Knotfest Australia yet.
Thank you for your passion, patience, and loyalty. We can’t wait to share what’s next and to make 2027 a truly unmissable experience.”
After a massive event earlier this year featuring Slipknot as the headliner alongside acts like BABYMETAL and Slaughter to Prevail, plenty of punters were expecting the Knotfest Australia 2026 hype train to begin – but unlike previous years, there was no promise of more to come.
This set rumours flying that the festival wouldn’t be returning, which was only further fuelled by the announcement of Parkway Drive’s Park Waves in 2026 – with dates that run over the usual period that Knotfest Australia occupies.
Now, we finally have an answer as to whether Knotfest Australia is coming back. While taking a year off might not be exactly what a lot of fans hoped for, at least we’ll be seeing Slipknot’s own festival back on our shores soon.
