Interview: Matt Tuck Of Bullet For My Valentine On Bringing ‘The Poison’ Back To Australia For 20th Anniversary Tour And More

Share

Two decades on from its release, The Poison still hits like a fist to the ribs. This October, Bullet For My Valentine are hauling their debut back onto Aussie soil for a 20th anniversary arena run, the biggest headline tour they’ve ever staged in this country.

We caught up with frontman Matt Tuck to get his thoughts on Australia and find out why it’s not just another stop on the map, it’s a place the band has always held close. Across countless tours, from sweaty clubs to festival stages, Aussie fans have kept their spot near the top of the global rankings. This time, though, Bullet aren’t just returning, they’re levelling up in a big way as they hit John Cain Arena, Hordern Pavilion and Riverstage. These arenas are about to get loud, and with While She Sleeps and The Devil Wears Prada in tow, the destruction writes itself.

The Poison shows overseas have already proved what anyone in the pit knows, nostalgia doesn’t mean soft. Not that Matt is nostalgic at all, as you’ll find out! The album’s riffs and hooks still whip crowds into a storm, and Tuck made it clear that reflection is only part of the story. Yes, twenty years demands looking back, but he hinted that new music, heavier, sharper, and nastier, is also clawing its way forward. The self titled 2021 album showed Bullet weren’t done breaking necks, and by the sound of it, the next chapter won’t be anything soft.

Outside the music, Tuck laughed about the bands branded hot sauce, side projects, and the unlikely contents of his camera roll. Life might look different offstage, but inside the arenas this October, it’s the same Bullet For My Valentine, sharpened, loud, and unstoppable.
