Watch Lamb of God Performance of New Track ‘Sepsis’ At Aftershock Festival

Lamb of God debuted their new track ‘Sepsis’ at Aftershock Festival on Friday, sending the crowd into a frenzy with the crushing sludge-inspired track.

Lamb of God put on a stellar set at Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, on Friday, performing some of their most celebrated tracks across their discography for the festival audience.

One such track they performed was their recently released single ‘Sepsis‘, which, as of writing, is a standalone release.

The song was introduced towards the end of the set, following the band’s iconic track ‘Laid to Rest’ from 2004’s Ashes of the Wake. A tough act to follow, but if it proved anything, it’s that the new track can follow some of Lamb of God’s best hits and still be a crowd-pleaser.

As Mark Morton and Willie Adler play one of the band’s gnarliest riffs throughout their discography, crowd surfers already start to move through the crowd. Vocalist Randy Blythe paces across the stage like a menacing goblin, adding to the tension that mounts throughout the track.

You can watch their performance below:

Lamb of God would release ‘Sepsis’ last week. In a statement, guitarist Mark Morton explained that they intended the song to have a heavy, but nostalgic vibe. He would go on to say the song is “a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn The Priest.”

The guitarist would continue, ” Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger – though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time.”

“The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

Longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur produced the track and arrives with a grainy, lo-fi performance video directed by Glanfranco Svagelj.

It’s unclear if ‘Sepsis’ is the first of many new tracks to be rolled out in promotion for a new album, but it already seems primed to be a setlist staple for the future.
