A New Report Hints That Lana Del Rey Might Be Performing The Theme Song For Upcoming James Bond Game

Eagle-eyed Lana Del Rey fans have spotted the 11 time Grammy-nominated pop star has registered a new song titled ‘First Light’, which gamers think could be in relation to the upcoming James Bond game which shares the same name.

It isn’t a James Bond title without an impressive theme song, and if the rumours are true, then the upcoming 007: First Light game by IO Interactive is sure to live up to the series legacy.

This week, fans over on the r/lanadelrey sub-reddit caught wind that the singer had registered a new song with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) titled ‘First Light’. Now, it’s entirely possible the song could be unrelated to the game, but given the timing of both releases, needless to say, some eyebrows have been raised.

Given the tradition for James Bond theme songs carrying the same name as the title of the film, it would fit nicely into the legacy of the series.

Lana Del Rey herself was also tapped to write a track for the movie Spectre back in 2015, however Sam Smith’s ‘Writing On The Wall’ would eventually win out. While the song would not get chosen, it would eventually end up on her album, Honeymoon, and would be renamed to ’24’ (Spectre would also be the 24th James Bond film).

“I wrote that for them,” Del Rey told BBC News previously. “Sam, you did a wonderful job. One day, maybe… But I’m going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend it’s the title track.”

IO Interactive, the developers of the iconic Hitman series are set to release their upcoming James Bond game next year. From what we’ve seen already, the game looks to blend the classic Hitman experience we all know and love with the charm and brutality of the 007 series, which is sure to be a win.

007: First Light has set a release date of March 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
