Yungblud’s live cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Changes’ has earned him a Grammy nod and praise from Sharon Osbourne.
Yungblud has scored multiple nominations at the 2026 Grammy Awards, including a nod for Best Rock Performance for his live cover of Black Sabbath’s 1972 classic ‘Changes’. The performance took place during July’s Back To The Beginning concert at Villa Park, a farewell event celebrating Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
Yungblud’s rendition was a heartfelt tribute to Osbourne, backed by an all-star lineup that included Anthrax bassist Frank Bello, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Sleep Token’s II on drums, and Adam Wakeman – who has played keys for both Ozzy and Black Sabbath. The performance was widely praised as one of the highlights of the night.
Following the announcement of the Grammy nominations, Sharon Osbourne took to social media to celebrate the news, writing, “I’m so proud of you. It’s just amazing and I know Ozzy is smiling down at you. Love you always, Sharon.”
Yungblud shared his gratitude online as well, saying:
“They’ve nominated ‘CHANGES at Villa Park’ for best rock performance at the Grammys, ‘IDOLS’ for best rock album and ‘ZOMBIE’ for best rock song. Thank you to you and your family for giving me the opportunity you did and your stage to show the world what I could do. Thank you for teaching us all how to dream and never compromise. From one madman from England to another I love you OZ and I hope one day I can show you how much.”
While ‘Changes’ has appeared in several forms over the decades, from Ozzy’s 2003 duet with his daughter Kelly to a 2013 soul cover by the late Charles Bradley, it has rarely been performed live. Yungblud’s take on the track was both emotional and explosive, marking a full-circle moment in his relationship with the Osbourne family. Since Ozzy’s passing, the Brit icon has promised to perform the song “every night for the rest of my life” in tribute to the Prince of Darkness and his impact on his career.
Yungblud first connected with Ozzy and Sharon in 2022, when the couple appeared in his music video for ‘The Funeral’. The two have remained close ever since, and he’s often cited Ozzy as one of his biggest influences.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles early next year, with Yungblud now set to compete alongside some of the biggest names in rock.
