Metallica Sydney Tour: Set Times, Tickets, Setlist & More

Metallica rolls into Sydney on Saturday for a huge show at Accor Stadium. Here’s everything we know from set times, tickets, and more.

Metallica has been tearing up Australia for a fortnight now as part of their M72 World Tour, and Sydney is up next for their last show Down Under before they head to NZ.

We’ve rounded up everything you should know, including the set times, setlist, how to get to Accor Stadium in amongst the chaos, and more – so let’s get into it.

Metallica M72 Australian Tour Sydney dates and location

Metallica will play at Accor Stadium on Saturday, 15 November.

Metallica Sydney set times

According to the official Accor Stadium site, the Metallica set times are:

• Gates Open: 5:00pm
• Showtime: 6:00pm
• Metallica (likely set time – see note below): 8:30pm

There’s no exact set times just yet for Suicidal Tendencies, Evanescence and Metallica, only gates open and kickoff – but based on previous performances in Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide, it’s likely Metallica will kick off at 8:30pm. Stay tuned on the day for any updates and official confirmation of those times, though.

How to get to the Metallica Sydney show

Parking is at a premium at Metallica’s Sydney show, and it’s advised to pre-book to avoid missing out. An event flat rate $35 parking fee will apply. If you’re planning to catch an Uber or taxi on the way in and out, taxi ranks are located on Herb Elliott Avenue.

Attendees are being urged to take public transport given the estimated 70,000 folks rocking up to Accor Stadium on Saturday.

Metallica ticket holders will have access to free public transport (all modes of PT, apparently) on showday. You can plan your journey and see a full guide to getting there and back here. Express and limited-stop trains will run frequently to Olympic Park, with frequent return services after the show. From Olympic Park station, the stadium is a 10-minute walk away.

Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will also run on all nine routes from 3.35pm until 7.14pm, depending on the route. Meanwhile, return buses will run frequently after the show, with the last buses leaving at midnight.

The (foot and car) traffic leaving and arriving is bound to be pretty horrific, so plan to arrive early and expect delays on the way out.

Metallica Sydney Setlist

While we don’t have a confirmed Metallica setlist for Sydney just yet, we can use a bit of guesswork based on their previous performances. The one major question mark is what the Kirk and Rob doodle will be – covers of Aussie band’s tracks that change up with each night.

Metallica Merch: Where to buy

Following the route of AC/DC and Oasis, Metallica is hosting an M72 pop-up shop in Sydney which opens on Friday. As with the other cities’ pop-ups, there’s a store-exclusive splatter vinyl edition of 72 Seasons, as well as a city exclusive screen-printed poster and t-shirt by Ken Taylor. There’s also a skateboard by Luke Preece, city patches, other limited merch, and classic shirts and accessories. According to Metallica’s Facebook page, you can also pick up an M72 Fan Card during your visit for a chance to win prizes, including Snake Pit passes.

The Metallica merch pop-up is located at 410 Oxford St, Paddington 2021. Here’s the opening hours:

• Friday 14, Saturday 15 November: 8:30am – 8:30pm
• Sunday 16 November: 8:30am – 6pm

If you won’t have chance to head down (or brave the pop-up lines), official Metallica merch is available from Accor Stadium on show day (15 November) as well. These merch tents are primarily located on the eastern side of the stadium (Olympic Boulevard and Dawn Fraser Avenue). It’s card only, so keep that in mind. Merch stalls outside the stadium have varying opening times:

Outside the Stadium:

• Near Light Tower 4: From 12pm.
• Near P1 (western side of the stadium): From 12pm
• Near Light Tower 3, 5 & 9: Staggered times through the afternoon

Metallica merchandise will also be available to purchase from outlets inside the Stadium on the concourse (Level 1, and Level 4 east and west) once gates open at 5:000pm.
