Kerry King Preparing To Record Second Solo Album in Early 2026, Says Mark Osegueda

Kerry King is already gearing up for the next chapter of his solo project, with a second album likely to enter the studio in early 2026.

The update came from Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda during a new appearance on the That Metal Interview podcast, where he broke down how the band is moving from a heavy touring cycle straight into writing mode.

According to Osegueda, the first run behind 2024’s From Hell I Rise has wrapped after an extensive stretch across North America, Europe, South America, Japan, and Australia. “Yeah, it’s doing great,” he said of the project.

“We just got back from Japan about three weeks ago, our first shows in Japan… we worked that record pretty good. And now we’re busy writing, getting the material together for the second record. And it’s coming, it’s coming along. And we’re gonna probably record the second record sometime in the first quarter of this upcoming year… we’re definitely in the process of getting the songs together for it.”

Osegueda performs in King’s solo band alongside guitarist Phil Demmel, bassist Kyle Sanders, and drummer Paul Bostaph, a lineup rooted in decades of thrash history.

Speaking on the chemistry, he said: “They’re good guys. I love the guys. It’s a great band to be a part of… I’ve known for years, decades.”

He also addressed stepping into Tom Araya’s vocal territory during Slayer cuts in the live set. “Tom, he’s an icon… when we do those songs, I just get out there and do my best to do the songs justice and his voice justice,” he said.

Much more aggressive

The singer went deeper into the project’s intensity, calling King’s material “much more aggressive — probably the most aggressive thing that I’ve done vocally,” and describing From Hell I Rise as “a beast… a savage.”

He also reflected on the long process of landing the gig in the first place, demo sessions, back and forth exchanges, and a final moment where King simply looked at him and said, “If you want the gig, it’s yours.” Osegueda’s response: “Fuck yeah.”

With writing underway, King’s second album looks set to push even harder, keeping momentum rolling as the project heads into 2026.
