Australia’s first dedicated heavy metal cruise is officially coming back.
Hellbound Heavy Metal Cruise has been locked in for January 2027, following the near instant sell out of its debut run and overwhelming demand from metal fans who missed out the first time.
Set to sail January 17th to 21st next year, Hellbound will once again take over Carnival Splendor for four nights of riffs, breakdowns, and onboard mayhem.
The announcement comes after Hellbound’s maiden voyage, scheduled for this October, sold out in under ten minutes, marking the fastest sell out in Choose Your Cruise’s 15 year history.
That stat alone tells you everything you need to know, metal fans didn’t hesitate.
Billed as more than just a festival on water, Hellbound positions itself as a floating heavy music community. Think stacked lineups, multiple onboard stages, immersive themed nights, and curated activities designed specifically for people who live and breathe heavy music. No awkward cruise entertainment or watered down vibes, just metal.
Lineup
While the Hellbound 2027 lineup won’t be announced until Monday, February 2nd, organisers have confirmed it’ll be a “huge metal lineup”, with expectations already running high after the success of the first selling out so quickly.
If the speed of the original sell out is anything to go by, fans will want to be ready the second tickets drop.
Between pits and pints, cruisers will also get a breather via a port call at Tangalooma, offering a brief escape from the party, activities include dolphin feeding, sand tobogganing, and snorkelling around shipwrecks. Yes, it’s still a cruise, even if everyone onboard is dressed in black.
