Metallica Lock In 24 Las Vegas Sphere Shows, Say No More Dates Are Coming (For Now)

Share

Metallica’s ‘Life Burns Faster’ Sphere residency in Las Vegas has already turned into one of the most talked about live events of 2026, and now the band has confirmed the schedule is officially capped.

Despite demand exploding during ticket sales, Metallica say they won’t be adding more shows to the run, the metal giants released a message to fans this week after announcing a massive expansion of the residency (per Blabber Mouth).

What started as eight shows in October this year, has now ballooned to 24 performances stretching into March next year, unfortunately if you missed out, the band says that’s the full slate for now.

Metallica thank fans after record demand

Posting on their official website, Metallica acknowledged the overwhelming response to the Sphere residency announcement:

“Wow! What a week. We are so appreciative and grateful to all of you for the incredible response to our upcoming ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. We are completely and utterly blown away and cannot believe that we will have 24 amazing nights on stage there, all thanks to you and a record-breaking week.

“At this point in time, we will not be adding additional shows, but we are hoping to offer more in the future. In the meantime, we hear you loud and clear that the ticket-buying process was often frustrating and not always smooth. We’re working with our partners to improve this experience and offer some remedies for the next time around.”

The band also confirmed their focus will soon shift back to the road as the ‘M72’ world tour resumes in Europe this May.

“We are looking forward to a very exciting 2026, starting off with seeing many of you in Europe this spring and summer as the ‘M72’ tour hits the road again in May. Before we know it, we’ll be exploring new frontiers along with fans from around the world in Las Vegas, and we can’t wait!”

Ticket prices spark backlash

Reports from ticket industry outlets suggest single-night tickets ranged from roughly $700 to $800, while VIP and multi-night packages stretched anywhere between $1,000 and $2,900.

Adding to the frustration, screenshots circulating online showed queue numbers climbing beyond 300,000 fans, leaving plenty of hopeful buyers staring at spinning loading icons instead of confirmation screens.

Ticketmaster later claimed a “targeted attack” slowed ticket sales during the March 4th on sale.

A new kind of Metallica show

When the residency finally lands in October, Metallica will bring their ‘No Repeat Weekend’ format to the Sphere, that means two shows per week with completely different setlists, digging deep into the band’s four decade catalogue.

The Sphere’s wraparound LED screen, immersive sound system, and multi sensory technology promise to push Metallica’s live show into unfamiliar territory, Drummer Lars Ulrich previously said the idea hit him almost instantly after seeing U2 open the venue:

“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought, ‘We have to do this. It’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months’ time, and way f**kin’ psyched to go next level!”

If the ticket demand is anything to go by, plenty of fans are ready to see exactly how far that next level goes.
