Still pushing the edges
Since 2010, Deafheaven have made a career out of refusing to sit still, from Sunbather cracking open black metal’s walls to Infinite Granite leaning hard into atmosphere, they’ve kept rewriting what “heavy” can mean.
Their latest record, Lonely People With Power, feels like a full circle moment, produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, it pulls together everything they’ve explored so far, melody, abrasion, vulnerability and doesn’t smooth any of it out.
There’s weight in what they’re writing about now, it’s less about escape and more about sitting with the mess and deciding what comes next, that tension has always been Deafheaven’s strength, and live, it hits even harder.
A lineup built for impact
They’re not coming alone. Nothing bring their own brand of shoegaze haze, still sharp around the edges despite the polish of A Short History of Decay.
Then there’s SPY, all bite and no filler. Oakland hardcore that doesn’t waste time explaining itself. Fast, direct, and built to leave a mark.
Together, it’s a stacked lineup that leans into contrast—beauty, noise, pressure, release.
Not your typical heavy show
Deafheaven’s last run through Australia saw them sell out Dark Mofo in Hobart. Since then, they’ve kept levelling up, pulling crowds from across scenes, metal, shoegaze, hardcore, and everything in between.
This tour feels like the natural next step with bigger rooms, broader reach and no compromises.
