Supergirl BTS Clip Puts The Spotlight on Milly Alcock

Supergirl star Milly Alcock gets her flowers in a new behind the scenes featurette.

Warner Bros and DC don’t just have to sell Supergirl to us – a troublesome task when hordes of mouthbreathers are poised over their keyboards to slam any movie with a female lead – they also have to sell Milly Alcock. Sure, the Australian actor has a bit of a footprint thanks to House Of The Dragon, but this is only her third film – other than Superman, she had a supporting role in the indie horror movie The School in 2018, and that’s it. I actually visited the set of The School and, with my finger firmly on the pulse, utterly failed to interview Alcock, so you’re in good hands here.

Anyway, she’s about to be one of the biggest stars on the planet, so here’s some behind the scenes footage explaining why we should be excited about that.

What’s the plot?

As the official synopsis tells us:

When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and written by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl takes it’s inspiration from the pretty great comics miniseries Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which our hard-drinking heroine teams up with fellow orphan in the form of alien foundling Ruthye Marye Knoll, and sets off on a mission of revenge against alien gang boss Krem Of The Yellow Hills. This seems to be following the same beats, but with now with the added attraction of hyper-violent anti-hero Lobo.

Who’s in it?

  • Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El AKA Supergirl, Superman’s cousin, who was raised on an errant chunk of Krypton and watched everyone around her die of Kryptonite poisoning, leaving with her with a hefty dose of PTSD and a bit of a live fast, die young situation going on.
  • Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem Of The Yellow Hills, the villain of the piece.
  • Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young orphan and human (well, alien) MacGuffin.
  • David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Supergirl’s father.
  • Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Supergirl’s mother
  • Jason Momoa as Lobo: the main man! The Last Czarnian! The ‘Bo! He who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it! And so forth. One of the most obvious and welcome casting choices in the history of theatrical performance.

When’s it out?

Supergirl hits cinemas on June 25, 2026.

What’s the vibe?

I’m digging it.
