Bring Me The Horizon are dragging ‘Count Your Blessings’ back into the light, and they’re not just dusting it off, they’re tearing it apart and rebuilding it.
The Sheffield outfit have announced a re-recorded 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, titled ‘Count Your Blessings | Repented’, landing Friday, July 10th across vinyl, CD and streaming.
For a record that helped shove Bring Me The Horizon into the mainstream conversation, this isn’t a soft anniversary no, it’s a full reset.
Rebuilt, not remembered
Frontman Oli Sykes and guitarist Lee Malia have taken the reins on the re-record, alongside Buster Odeholm on mixing, the result is being framed as sharper, heavier, and more dialled in than the original’s rawness.
That’s a risky move, the 2006 version thrived on its rough edges, the kind that couldn’t be faked, reworking it with modern production could either amplify the violence or sand off what made it hit in the first place.
Tracks like ‘Pray for Plagues’, ‘Slow Dance’, and ‘A Lot Like Vegas’ have been reimagined, while ‘Liquor & Love Lost’ returns under its original working title ‘Dragon Slaying’, a deep cut for anyone who’s been around since the MySpace days.
One night only: full album fun
To mark the release, the band are staging something they’ve never done before.
On Friday, July 10th, Bring Me The Horizon will perform ‘Count Your Blessings’ in full at Outbreak Presents: Count Your Blessings | Repented at Manchester’s B.E.C. Arena.
The lineup leans heavy, with Static Dress and Dying Wish locked in, alongside other names from the current wave, it’s being pitched less as a nostalgia trip and more as a collision between eras.
That tracks, Bring Me The Horizon have never been a band that sits still long enough to celebrate the past without twisting it into something new.
Why this one matters
‘Count Your Blessings’ wasn’t just a debut, it was a line in the sand. A messy, violent introduction that pushed extreme music into new spaces, even if the band themselves have spent years running in the opposite direction sonically.
