Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is gonna burn it all down in kidnapping drama Man On Fire.
I think they did the ass bomb, guys.
One of the weirdest, wildest scenes in Tony Scott’s 2004 film, Man On Fire, involves Denzel Washington interrogating a Mexican kidnapper by shoving a radio-detonated bomb up the poor bastard’s ass and threatening to detonate it. Then he detonates it. It’s that sort of film.
Now, I don’t know if Netflix‘s new version of Man On Fire can hit those heights of cinematic histrionics, but the new trailer sure indicates they’re gonna give it a red hot go.

What’s the vibe?
I can’t speak for the original books, because they’re long out of print and hella expensive last time I checked, by Tony Scott’s Man On Fire has a unique combination of heart and extreme violence, all seasoned with the late action maestro’s hyperkinetic aesthetic sense. This new take from showrunner and executive producer Kyle Killen probably can’t match the latter – Scott was one of the greatest visual stylists of all time – but the tone is on point. Looks promising.
