Staind are officially back in album mode, with the veteran post grunge heavyweights confirming their ninth studio record is complete and currently lined up for an early 2027 release.
The news landed during the band’s appearance at Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio, where guitarist Mike Mushok revealed the long awaited follow up to 2023’s Confessions Of The Fallen is already wrapped.
“We have a new record that’s actually done,” Mushok said during an interview with 99.7 The Blitz, as for when fans can expect to hear it, he added:
“It won’t be out this year, I don’t think.”
That means Staind fans are likely looking at an early 2027 drop, marking a surprisingly quick turnaround following Confessions Of The Fallen, the band’s first studio album in 12 years.
The 2023 release signalled a creative shift for the Massachusetts outfit, introducing more electronic textures into their signature emotionally heavy sound, speaking previously about that sonic direction, Mushok suggested the next record will continue down that path:
“I do think that that’s gonna happen. Yeah, definitely. In fact, there’s some new music kicking around, and it’s definitely still kind of following that same vein a bit. So, I’m real excited about that as well.”
That experimental edge first emerged as frontman Aaron Lewis pushed the band toward a more contemporary sound, with producer Erik Ron helping translate that vision into something distinctly Staind.
The timing is notable, with the band currently gearing up for their massive Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour across the US and Canada later this year alongside Seether, Hoobastank and Hinder, the tour celebrates the landmark 2001 release that launched Staind into mainstream rock dominance, powered by “It’s Been Awhile” and a string of era defining radio hits.
Meanwhile, Confessions Of The Fallen proved the band still has serious chart muscle, debuting at No.1 on Billboard’s Active Rock Album chart, while singles “Lowest In Me” and “Here And Now” both hit the top of Active Rock radio.
If the new record builds on that momentum while leaning harder into the electronic experimentation teased by Mushok, 2027 could mark another major chapter in Staind’s second act.
