After what can only be described as enduring the musical equivalent of an absolute shitstorm, Sydney heavy-hitters Buried In Verona have today released an album that until recently, they never thought they’d make: their fifth full-length, Vultures Above, Lions Below. It’s been a trying few years for the metalcore quintet. After eight years, four albums and an impressive string of international tours under their belts, 2014 almost saw the band chuck in the towel. It seems core members leaving the group, ill-advised decisions from people they trusted and outstanding debts of almost $100,000 were nearly enough to break the band, but instead they’ve taken these hardships in their stride and cranked out a middle-finger of an album all of their own accord.
Written, produced and recorded entirely by the band, Vultures Above, Lions Below is the most honest and crushing release the notorious BIV have ever put their name to – and you can hear it in full right now via the YouTube stream below.
“We are so excited to finally get this record out there,” says vocalist Brett Anderson. “This is by far the best album we have created and we put absolutely everything that we have into it. We are so proud of this record. Thanks to all the BIV family for sticking with us.”
