Horror isn’t just surviving in 2026, it’s thriving.
From independent breakout hits and streaming sensations to major studio releases, the genre has become one of the most reliable forces in entertainment, consistently drawing audiences while many traditional blockbuster formats struggle to find the same level of engagement.
Now, another highly anticipated entry is preparing to join the conversation.
Blunt Magazine Australia can exclusively reveal a brand new image (below) from Eli Roth‘s upcoming horror film Ice Cream Man, offering fans another glimpse at one of this year’s most talked about genre releases ahead of its Australian cinema debut on August 6th.

The exclusive still arrives just weeks after Roth unveiled the film’s blood-soaked red-band trailer (below), introducing audiences to a seemingly idyllic town where a mysterious ice cream vendor’s frozen treats unleash terrifying consequences.
Ice Cream Man trailer
It’s a premise that perfectly taps into one of horror’s most enduring strengths in taking familiar comforts and twisting them into something deeply unsettling.
For decades, horror has excelled at corrupting the ordinary. Dolls become killers, clowns become nightmares, summer camps become hunting grounds, in Ice Cream Man, Roth turns one of childhood’s simplest pleasures into the catalyst for complete chaos.
The film also arrives at a time when audiences appear more willing than ever to embrace horror’s increasingly diverse landscape. Psychological thrillers, supernatural chillers, elevated horror, slashers and unapologetic splatter films are all finding passionate audiences worldwide.
For Roth, whose career has been built on pushing practical effects, visceral gore and boundary pushing concepts, Ice Cream Man feels like a natural continuation of that philosophy.
The project also represents the first feature release from Roth’s horror focused production company, The Horror Section, signalling a major new chapter for one of the genre’s most recognisable filmmakers.
Whether Ice Cream Man becomes the next breakout horror hit remains to be seen, but if the trailer and newly revealed image are any indication, Roth is once again determined to prove that no childhood memory is safe from becoming nightmare fuel.
Ice Cream Man opens in Australian cinemas on August 6th, and I for one cannot wait.
