Iron Maiden are taking their war against concert phone screens one step further.
Metal icons Iron Maiden have confirmed that the Paris stop on the Run For Your Lives World Tour (June 22nd) will feature a completely phone free standing area as the band professionally films and records footage for an upcoming concert movie (per Blabbermouth).
Fans in the General Admission section at Paris La Défense Arena will have their devices sealed inside Yondr pouches upon entry, preventing access throughout the show unless they visit designated phone use zones inside the venue.
The move is being implemented specifically for the filming of the upcoming Run For Your Lives tour film, with Maiden saying the restriction will help create “the optimal viewing experience” both for fans attending the show and those who eventually watch the finished release.
Paris stop only
The band stressed that the Yondr system is only being used for the Paris recording and won’t be rolled out across the rest of the tour, the announcement is the clearest sign yet of how serious Iron Maiden are about reducing phone use at their concerts.
Frontman Bruce Dickinson has spent the past year repeatedly criticising modern concert culture, arguing that fans experience less of the performance when viewing it through a screen.
During several interviews promoting the Run For Your Lives tour, Dickinson praised phone-free concerts and described them as creating a noticeably different atmosphere between fans and performers.
Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has also been vocal on the issue, previously urging fans to experience shows “in the moment” rather than spending entire concerts filming.
When Iron Maiden announced their massive November 2026 Australian run with Megadeth earlier this year, Smallwood specifically called out local crowds, asking fans to limit phone use and enjoy the show as it happens rather than through a camera lens.
Whether Australian fans embrace that request remains to be seen, but if the atmosphere at the Paris filming proves successful, don’t be surprised if the conversation around phones at live shows only grows louder.
