Corey Feldman Says He Passed On Asking Mike Patton To Feature On New Track

Corey Feldman says an upcoming collaboration with Fred Durst nearly looked very different.

Appearing on a recent episode of Hate To Break It To Ya with Jamie Kennedy, musician and actor Corey Feldman opened up about a new song titled Paranoia [I’m Not Trippin] and revealed that he originally imagined another high profile vocalist appearing on it.

According to Feldman, his first idea was to approach Mike Patton (per The PRP).

While discussing how the track came together, Feldman described the project as an unexpected collaboration built around a jam session involving a rotating cast of musicians.

“Fred [Durst] and I have a new song… I put out a teaser for it. It’s sick,” Feldman said before explaining that the track evolved after he contributed a melody and started thinking about vocal features.

“And they were like, ‘Well, who do you think?’ And I was going through the names and I actually thought of Mike Patton. He was the one that I wanted first, and I’m a fan of his work…”

Feldman then said he ultimately decided not to pursue the collaboration because of concerns he personally had, though he did not provide evidence to support those concerns or explain them in detail.

“…but he’s a little bit tied to, you know, those things that I…”

After being questioned further by Kennedy, Feldman continued:

“Not smoke. Just the stuff you’re talking about… So, it looked a little dark. So, I was like, I don’t think that’s the best marriage. But I like his work, but just not his message, maybe.”

Patton has not publicly responded to the remarks.

Feldman said that after moving away from the idea, he reached out to Durst instead.

“So, I called Fred and I said, ‘I got this new jam. What do you think?’ … He’s like, ‘Dude, that’s badass.’”

The collaboration is expected to appear under the title Paranoia [I’m Not Trippin], with more details yet to be revealed.
