Sid Wilson Reportedly Fired Over Treatment of Bandmates as TMZ Doubles Down

Share

TMZ has doubled down on its report that Sid Wilson has been removed from Slipknot, publishing new claims about what allegedly pushed the band to breaking point.

According to the outlet’s latest report, Slipknot had “finally had enough” of Wilson’s behaviour, specifically the way he allegedly treated his bandmates. Sources described the decision as “a long time coming,” rather than something made suddenly.

The new claims provide the first reported explanation for Wilson’s alleged removal. TMZ’s original report said the reason behind the decision was unclear.

TMZ now claims Slipknot was going to announce Wilson’s departure this week

But they lost control of the rollout when the news surfaced early. Sources told the outlet the leak caused the band to “freak out behind the scenes,” with members frustrated that they could no longer announce the split on their own terms.

That framing matters because Slipknot guitarist Jim Root appeared to push back after the original story broke. In a cryptic Instagram post, Root told fans not to “believe everything you read” and urged them to wait until more information emerged. He did not mention Wilson or TMZ by name, meaning his message stopped short of a direct denial.

TMZ’s follow-up is effectively the outlet standing by its reporting and adding a more specific account of what it says happened behind closed doors. The claims about Wilson’s treatment of his bandmates still come from unnamed sources and have not been publicly confirmed by Slipknot.

Sid Wilson ain’t talking

Wilson was later approached by TMZ outside a Los Angeles recording studio. When asked directly whether he had been fired from Slipknot, he kept his head down and did not respond before entering the studio with a friend.

The footage is worth noting, but silence is not confirmation. It marks Wilson’s first public sighting since the report and shows that he had an opportunity to address it, but chose not to do so.

The reported firing also follows Wilson’s split from Kelly Osbourne earlier this year. The pair quietly ended their engagement in March. There has has been a reported connection between the breakup and the situation inside Slipknot.

Wilson joined Slipknot in the late 1990s and spent more than 25 years helping shape the band’s live identity through turntables, samples and the chaotic presence of #0. No replacement has been announced.

Slipknot has still not publicly addressed Wilson’s status. Until the band or Wilson speaks directly, the allegation that his treatment of bandmates caused the split remains TMZ’s reporting, not an official account from either side.
