One very lucky Avenged Sevenfold fan has gone viral after finding himself onstage with M. Shadows, and then being handed the microphone to sing one of the band’s biggest songs.
The unexpected moment happened on August 8th in Montreal, Canada, during Avenged Sevenfold‘s co-headlining tour with Good Charlotte.
“Unholy Confessions” was near the end of the band’s 12 song set when Shadows spotted a fan at the front of the crowd holding a sign and decided to bring him up onstage (per Loudwire).
In footage of the moment, Shadows reaches down and grabs the fan’s hand before pulling him onto the stage, rather than simply letting him sing a line or two, the Avenged frontman immediately hands over the microphone.
Zakk’s moment
The fan, identified by Setlist.fm as Zakk, doesn’t exactly freeze under the pressure.
He launches straight into the song’s brutal vocals, throwing himself around the stage while Shadows watches on with a massive grin, the singer then joins in with backing vocals for several verses, seemingly happy to let his unexpected guest take the spotlight.
Shadows eventually encourages the Montreal crowd to show their appreciation, gives Zakk a hug and directs security to help him safely make his way back into the pit, before finishing the song himself, Shadows had one final message for his temporary replacement.
“Great f**king job, motherf**er! That was awesome,” the frontman said as he pointed towards the fan.
It’s the kind of fan interaction that can turn an already memorable concert into a story someone will be telling for the rest of their life, and the footage has now started making its way around the internet.
The moment comes during a huge touring year for Avenged Sevenfold, who are currently travelling with Good Charlotte before bringing their live show to Australia and New Zealand in October.
Australian fans will get four chances to see the band, with Avenged Sevenfold scheduled to hit Sydney on October 16th, Brisbane on October 18th and Melbourne on October 20th, before crossing the Tasman for Auckland on October 23rd.
