Ozzfest Confirms 2027 Return At Villa Park In Birmingham

Ozzfest is officially coming back.

The legendary heavy music festival has confirmed that it will return in 2027, with Birmingham’s Villa Park named as the venue for its UK comeback (per Lamb Goat).

The announcement was made through Ozzfest’s social media channels, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding the festival’s long awaited return.

The location is particularly significant. Villa Park was the site of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s farewell concert last year, making the return of Ozzfest to the same venue a fitting continuation of the Osbourne family’s connection with the stadium.

No artists announced yet

The confirmation follows comments from Sharon Osbourne earlier this month, when she revealed that plans for Ozzfest 2027 were progressing and that Villa Park was once again being considered as the home of the festival.

Speaking to Metal Hammer, Sharon previously said: “It’s going to be at Villa Park again,” while leaving open the possibility of a two night event depending on what fans want.

At the time, she also confirmed that conversations with potential artists were already happening, although she remained tight lipped about exactly who could make the bill.

“Of course we’re speaking to people,” she said. “I can’t let that out yet, but it’ll be soon.”

The UK event is only expected to be part of Ozzfest’s 2027 comeback. Sharon has previously indicated that the festival is also targeting dates in the United States, with the initial plan focusing on two locations rather than immediately returning to its traditional travelling format.

She has also stressed that emerging artists will be an important part of the revival, continuing one of Ozzfest’s most important traditions.

“We wanna hear from everyone where we should go in America. And also we’ve gotta find a lot of young, new talent, because that’s what [Ozzy] would want,” she previously said.

The festival could potentially expand into a larger touring operation from 2028 if the response to the 2027 events is strong.

Defining heavy music

Ozzfest was founded in 1996 and became one of the defining festivals in heavy music, helping introduce younger and emerging bands to huge audiences alongside established metal acts, the most recent Ozzfest took place on New Year’s Eve in 2018.

Now, with its Birmingham return officially confirmed, the big question is who will be joining the lineup.

For now, Ozzfest has confirmed the where and when. The names on the poster are still under wraps.
