Slowly Slowly Share New Single ‘Sacrosaint’, Their First As A Trio

Melbourne alternative rock band Slowly Slowly have shared their first new music of 2026, a single entitled ‘Sacrosaint’. It follows on from the release of their fifth album, Forgiving Spree, in January 2025 – which peaked at number eight on the ARIA Albums Chart and topped the Australian Albums Chart upon its release – and serves as the first taste of their sixth, Everybody Tells the Truth, which is projected for release in 2027.

In a press statement regarding the new single, frontman Ben Stewart – who also produced the song – described ‘Sacrosaint’ as “dealing with the things that we’ve taken for granted, the things that have been sacrosanct in the past, and how we always think they’re going to be there”.

“In that laziness, you’re watching the pillars of what holds up your life and society erode,” he said. “The good in the world felt like it was disappearing. It felt like a big warning sign – if we stop watering those things that are so important for our happiness, it’s over.”

The song’s music video was directed by Marcus Coblyn, and depicts Stewart sitting on the back of a top-down car while his bandmates – bassist Alex Quayle and drummer Patrick Murphy – sit in the front. Stewart noted that he “knew exactly what [he] wanted for the video” from a visual and creative standpoint. “I needed apocalyptic, [and] I needed the tension of the band performance backdrop in the middle of nowhere against the feeling of intense movement,” he said. He cited the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ video for ‘Scar Tissue’ as inspiration for the former, and Deftones‘ video for ‘Minerva’ inspiring the latter.

‘Sacrosanct’ is also notably the band’s first new music since converting into a trio. Last month, following a performance at The Eveleigh in their native Melbourne to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of their debut album Chamomile, the band revealed that lead guitarist Albert Doan had played his final show.

“His first show with us was the original Chamomile launch, all those years ago in the very same room,” the band wrote on Instagram at the time. “Last night was a joyful celebration of a decade of good times together on stage. Nothing but love, admiration and respect for him prioritising home life over touring.”

Slowly Slowly will see out the year on the festival circuit. In early December, they will perform across the east coast as part of this year’s Good Things line-up alongside Limp Bizkit, Simple Plan and Spiritbox. Then, they will head to Tasmania to perform at Great Escape in Redbanks over the new-year period with Ocean Alley, Ball Park Music and Mallrat.
