Bush are adding another Melbourne date to their Australian run, with the British rock veterans set to headline Triple M Fest during AFL Grand Final week.
The band will play Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Thursday, September 24th, joined by Australian rock staples The Superjesus and You Am I (per Billboard).
It makes for a very different setting to the arenas and larger venues Bush are hitting alongside Shinedown this month, instead of a co-headline production, this one drops them into the Corner Hotel, which should make for a much tighter, sweatier hit of the catalogue.
Triple M Fest returns after its inaugural edition last year, with the station expanding the event into the evening for the first time.
The day begins at 6am with Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie broadcasting live from the venue, alongside a performance from The Superjesus. Deadset Legends and a special Grand Final week edition of The Grand Final Rub follow, before The Rush Hour with JB & Billy takes over later in the day.
You Am I will perform before Bush close the night.
“Triple M Fest is exactly what Grand Final week in Melbourne should sound like — great footy chat, live music, and the biggest personalities coming together in one place,” Triple M Melbourne content director Jay Mueller said.
Right in the middle
For Bush, the appearance lands right in the middle of their broader Australian tour with Shinedown.
The two bands begin in Auckland on September 17th before moving through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
That tour is a significant one in its own right, Bush are playing their first Australian headline shows since 1996, while Shinedown are returning for their first performances down under in more than 15 years.
Bush remain heavily associated with their 1994 breakthrough Sixteen Stone, which spawned ‘Comedown’, ‘Glycerine’, ‘Machinehead’ and ‘Little Things’, before Razorblade Suitcase followed in 1996.
Three decades on, Grand Final week now gets a little more distortion added to the schedule.
