Knocked Loose have donated $8,000 USD to a fundraiser supporting a woman who was left paralysed following a serious accident during the band’s performance at Louder Than Life festival.
Jamie Ulshoffer was watching the Kentucky hardcore outfit perform in Louisville on September 18th when another festivalgoer reportedly fell from a nearby tree and landed on her (per Lamb Goat).
According to Louisville ABC affiliate WHAS11, Ulshoffer was positioned towards the rear of the tented stage area when the incident occurred. She was transported to UofL Hospital, where she was found to have suffered a severe spinal injury that has left her paralysed from the waist down.
Ulshoffer’s niece, Cheyenne Will, subsequently launched a GoFundMe to help Jamie and her husband Conor with medical bills and other expenses stemming from the accident.
Knocked Loose have now contributed $8,000 USD to the fundraiser, appearing as its largest donor when the contribution was reported.
The band have not publicly commented on the donation at the time of writing.
Speaking to WHAS11 from hospital earlier this week, Ulshoffer described the impact the injury has already had on her life.
“I can’t feel my feet. Can’t do anything that I used to. I’m not going to be able to play with the kids.”
Her husband Conor, who attended Louder Than Life with her, told the station he turned around to find Jamie on the ground before other attendees told him someone had fallen from a tree.
The GoFundMe states that Ulshoffer suffered a severed spine and has been established to help cover her ongoing medical costs.
As of Friday, September 25th, the fundraiser has passed $29,225 USD of its $40,000 target, with more than 400 donations recorded.
Knocked Loose were playing their hometown festival when the accident occurred, with the Louisville band appearing as part of the four-day Louder Than Life event.
The fundraiser remains open for those wishing to support Ulshoffer and her family.
