Slipknot have spent the past week being deliberately vague about their 2027 plans, the stadiums are making things a little easier to figure out.
Wembley Stadium joined the band’s mysterious campaign on Sunday, posting Slipknot’s flaming tribal S alongside the date September 28th.
The caption? “If you’re 555…”
That’s straight out of “The Heretic Anthem”, with the obvious missing half being: “then I’m 666.”
Wembley wasn’t acting alone.
SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Soldier Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, Chase Field in Phoenix, Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Daikin Park in Houston and DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Colorado have all posted Slipknot teasers of their own.
Chase Field went as far as putting the flaming S on its scoreboard.
No dates have officially been announced yet, so calling those venues confirmed Slipknot shows would be jumping ahead. But when multiple stadiums across two countries all start posting the same band imagery at roughly the same time, the direction of travel isn’t particularly difficult to see (per Next Mosh).
The latest teasers follow a week of Slipknot posters turning up across North and South America and London.
Those have appeared in cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Washington D.C., Toronto, Mexico City, Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Santiago, while directing fans towards the band’s Unlock website and the date September 28th.
Whatever Slipknot have planned, it looks significantly bigger than a handful of shows.
The campaign also arrives shortly after the band returned with “Arsenal”, their first new track in more than three years.
Slipknot are currently working on their eighth studio album with producer Matt Wallace, although Jim Root has already confirmed “Arsenal” won’t be part of it.
Whether the incoming announcement connects the new music and 2027 touring plans remains to be seen.
One thing we do know: Australia hasn’t appeared anywhere in the campaign so far.
The reveal is expected tomorrow.
